UCF ice hockey club sails past Embry Riddle in weekend series

The UCF ice hockey club flew past Embry Riddle University in its weekend series, winning 6-2 Friday at the Daytona Ice Arena and 4-1 Saturday at the Orlando Ice Den.

The Knights started game one with defenseman Joseph Dray scoring an goal assisted by forward Colin Jackson during a power play eight minutes into the first period.

UCF brought the heat into the second period with forward JT Fuller putting another goal up within 25 seconds of the puck dropping.

UCF ice hockey finishes last in Battle at the Beach Tournament

UCF ice hockey club placed last in the second annual Battle at the Beach Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Palm Beach Skate Zone.

The Knights went against the University of Tampa in their first game of the weekend, and ended the night with a 6-1 loss. They headed into the third-place game Saturday against Lynn University, but could not keep up the fight, concluding the game with a 10-4 loss.

UCF ice hockey club fights till the end against Lynn in its weekend series

The UCF ice hockey club did not end its weekend series against Lynn University without a fight, with a 5-4 victory Friday and a 4-3 loss Saturday at the Orlando Ice Den.

The Knights scored two goals in the first period, with forward JT Fuller scoring the first goal during a power play, after Lynn defenseman Blake Birger was penalized for cross-checking 10 minutes into the game.

Preview: UCF ice hockey club prepares for Battle at the Beach Tournament

UCF ice hockey club is heading into battle this weekend to fight for revenge during the second annual Battle at the Beach Tournament at 9:30 p.m. Friday and a to-be-determined time Saturday at the Palm Beach Skate Zone.

The Knights will go against Tampa for the first time in the 2024-2025 season Friday, and depending on the results, will either head into the third-place game or the championship game Saturday.

UCF ice hockey club dominates the rink against Georgia Tech in weekend series

The UCF ice hockey club showed no mercy in its weekend series against Georgia Tech, winning 4-1 Friday and 3-2 Saturday at the Orlando Ice Den.

Game one of the series started slow, until forward JT Fuller opened the flood gates, scoring with nine minutes left in the first period. The Knights continued into the second period with forward Jacob Graziotti scoring 15 seconds into the period, giving UCF a 2-0 lead.

Three Knights film a behind-the-scenes documentary about UCF's ice hockey club

A UCF alumnus and students shine a light on who the players are outside of the jersey in a behind-the-scenes documentary about the UCF men’s ice hockey team.

Luke Bitikofer, UCF alumnus, has started the process of filming the behind-the-scenes documentary about the Knights ice hockey team, inviting senior liberal arts major, Brandon Salazar, and Mia Flores, sophomore pre-sports media production and management major, to help him capture the reality of being a club sport athlete.

UCF ice hockey club outlasts Miami in its home opener

The UCF ice hockey club squeaked by its first game of the 24-25 season on Friday, sweeping Miami 4-3 in overtime at the Orlando Ice Den.

The Knights started the game strong, with forward Jacob Graziotti scoring an unassisted goal in the first minute. Defenseman Rhett Hopkins followed with the second goal of the night in the last four minutes of the first period, giving UCF a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.

UCF students test their luck during bingo night with Rosen Life

UCF students gathered in the student lounge at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management on Wednesday for Rosen Life’s Lucky Bingo night.

Sierra Taintor, Rosen Life student director and senior event management major, said with the event being Rosen Life’s last bingo night of the semester, Ariana Lopez, Rosen Life assistant director, had come up with the idea to switch up the event by getting into the spirit of March.

UCF organization volunteers to build beds for children in the community

UCF’s It Takes A Village teamed up with the Orlando Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace on Saturday at Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company to build over 40 beds for children.

“It’s a great experience. You can come out and do something that you know you’ll feel good about. You’re actually providing a service to the community for people who need it,” said Stephanie Cornejo, senior biomedical sciences major and ITAV vice president.

UCF fans cool off with Kelly's ice cream during home football games

UCF now screams for ice cream with Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream available at the football stadium.

Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream can be found at the north and south end zone concourses of the FBC Mortgage Stadium during the remaining home football games. Additionally, Kelly’s will be served at select baseball games during the spring at John Euliano Park, said Kristyn Minino via email, operations manager at Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream.

UCF's Blackstone LaunchPad honors their decade-long program at Startup Fest

UCF’s Blackstone LaunchPad celebrated its 10th anniversary at Startup Fest, and student entrepreneurs presented innovative ideas Wednesday.

UCF’s Blackstone LaunchPad program was established in 2013 to offer students the resources and opportunities to help them with their entrepreneurial endeavors, said Cassandra Willard, program director for UCF’s Blackstone LaunchPad.
